Easy to install

After removing the old cover Use a flathead screwdriver in order to pry out the four main attachment clips located on the passenger side of the fob assembly. These are marked with red on the picture below. Also note the tabs that locate slots in yellow that need to be disconnected as well.
Replace the old battery with a #CR2032 coin cell battery. The "+" side of the battery should face the opening on the fob, and the "side that is "-" side should face the rubber buttons.
Replace the cover of the passenger's side mirror by aligning the locating tabs. Once you've completed this then put the fob on the driver's side back into the vehicle and test it. Press the button at the front of the key. If everything is working correctly, the parking lights should be on and the doors will automatically close.

The battery is simple to replace by turning the switch a quarter turn using a small screwdriver that has a flathead.
The key fob houses the microchip that connects to the Body Control Module. When you insert your Fiat key it presses a button inside the ignition switch that is used to remind you of the "key-inignition". The BCM will then be in a position to read the transponder inside the key fob, and verify that it's legitimate.
